CavinKare, the Chennai-based manufacturers of hair care, skin caring and personal caring products, has not long ago launched a a of its type twice perfume talcum powder, Cool Duet. As the name suggests, the talcum powder has two fragrances – first, a ‘flowery minty’ perfume that helps a beginning the day feeling uninformed and active, and second – a that is activated when the user perspires – is a fruity perfume that keeps a cold and fresh.
S Viswanathan, broad manager, selling services, CavinKare, says, “The technology used is not new, it’s only that the second perfume is expelled on meeting with water. So when the body sweats, the fruity scent is incited on.”
Actor Genelia D’Souza, brand envoy for Spinz, will moreover validate Cool Duet talc. A new radio blurb compelling the product is on air. The firm is compelling the talc moreover by sampling. As Viswanathan says, “Only when consumers use the product once, will they be wakeful and will buy it the second time.”
To put things in perspective, Spinz deo was launched in 1997 and became an present strike with young women since to its fragrance. Over the years, the brand has managed to keep a young, happy and modern image. In 1999, the brand was lengthened to talcum powder. Besides the new Cool Duet variant, Spinz has 3 fragrances in its talc sound – Exotic, Enchante and Sandal. Cool Duet targets all the talcum powder users with a concentration on women in the 25-plus age group.
The Indian talcum powder marketplace is valued at Rs 1,300 crore and is flourishing at a slow 6-7 per cent. The marketplace is dominated by HUL’s Ponds that has around 50 per cent marketplace share. Second is Johnson Johnson with 12 per cent share and Spinz is third with 6 per cent share.
CavinKare is now present in segments inclusive personal caring (shampoos, deodorants and creams), food (CavinKare pickles), beverages (fruit-based drinks), home-care (brands add cleaning agents Tex and Topp Mopp), divert and dairy products.
